OVNI is the most innovative surfskate brand in the world.
Years of research to create the TRUE SURFSKATE, just like surfboards, and equipment for various surfing styles, wave types, and skill levels.
All of this to make your surfing experience unique and unforgettable!
There have been many important innovations brought by OVNI to the world of surfskating, but we believe this to be the most disruptive innovation. From now on, no surfskater will ever settle for a "GENERIC SURFSKATE" again.
We brought to surfskates what has been common in surfing for decades: the ability to choose equipment not by brand or decoration, but by its SPECIFIC PERFORMANCE, highlighting your own surfing style, choosing your preferred wave type, and adapting to your own skill level.
For the first time in the history of surfskating, it is possible to create a QUIVER OF SURFSKATES, so you will always have the right equipment for any situation, just like in surfing.
This innovation was made possible solely because OVNI is the only surfskate brand in the world that has created three different surfskate trucks. With them, in combination with springs and bushings of various hardness levels, and pads of different heights, we can create multiple setups, each with its own specific features. This allows for surfskates with differentiated characteristics, each specific to a surfing style, wave type, and skill level.
OVNI is the only brand in the world to create various types of surfskate trucks, each with its own specific features:
The common characteristics of all OVNI trucks are their LIGHTNESS, AGILITY, RESPONSIVENESS, and DURABILITY.
Let’s explain in detail each characteristic:
Absence of Curve Limiting Devices
OVNI trucks are designed without any curve limiting devices, allowing complete control of the equipment by the surfskater. Just like surfboards, control of direction and stability relies solely on the balance and skill of the rider!
Greater Stability and Control
The design of OVNI trucks places the deck closer to the ground. In other words, the athlete is closer to the surface. The lower center of gravity provides greater stability, allowing for better balance, safety, and more radical and well-executed maneuvers.
Lightness, Durability, and Easy Maintenance
Our technologies were aimed at SIMPLIFYING THE TRUCKS TO THE MAXIMUM, reducing the number of components, especially steel parts, and thus minimizing the overall weight of the trucks.
This feature also drastically reduced slack, resulting in more precise turns.
Fewer components also mean less friction between the parts, providing a quicker response.
Additionally, fewer components mean a lower chance of something breaking, reducing the risk of accidents, as well as requiring less time and cost for maintenance.
Traction Spring
All OVNI trucks use traction springs. Thanks to the truck design, which features ample space between the base and the hanger, it was possible to incorporate an oversized spring, operating at minimal capacity, thus minimizing material fatigue. This significantly increases the lifespan of the truck, keeping the spring's original traction characteristics intact for much longer.
8-Hole Baseplate
All OVNI trucks use the same 8-hole base, which allows them to be mounted on any deck. Beyond this advantage, using the "street" hole pattern allows for micro-adjustments in the axle distance.
Variable Response
The OVNI ORION and SIRIUS models allow the truck's performance to be modified simply by mounting them at an angle to the deck.
The rear truck has also been redesigned to match the performance of the front truck, completing a high-performance surfskate setup.
8-Hole Baseplate
Just like the baseplates of OVNI surfskate trucks, it can be mounted on decks with any type of hole pattern (street or longboard).
The same base used on OVNI surfskate trucks allows the use of the same OVNI aluminum pads, enabling the customization of the truck's height in relation to the deck.
Additionally, when mounted on decks with the 'street' hole pattern, you have the option to adjust the axle distance from 0 to 20mm, as each truck can be shifted up to 10mm forward or backward.
Precision Pivot
Well-machined, the pivot of this truck moves around its axis without prematurely wearing out the pivot cup. This provides not only greater durability but also higher precision in turns, and for a longer time.
Embedded Washer
Instead of using traditional steel washers to secure the bishing in place, we chose to embed it within the base itself. This eliminates an additional component, making the truck lighter. The embedded washer is perfectly machined to accommodate the entire line of OVNI shock absorbers.
Reinforced Baseplate
There’s nothing better than having a truck that performs precise turns all the time. For that, it’s essential that the kingpin remains firmly in place, without slack in its insertion into the base. That’s why specific points of the base have been reinforced.
We have designed our own aluminum pads, with specific 8-hole bases, to perfectly fit OVNI trucks.
Multiple setups
ALUMINUM PADS are more solid and durable, while eliminating the need for plastic, which is highly harmful to the environment.
The combination of 7mm and 15mm pads allows you to equalize the height of any front truck with the rear truck, across various heights.
Environmentally Friendly
ALUMINUM PADS are more eco-friendly than traditional plastic pads, as they are made from recyclable metal.
Even the screws, seemingly irrelevant to the performance of a surfskate, had to be changed.
We chose to use screws with a French design because they are less harsh on the deck and attach the surfskate trucks more firmly.
1- Traditional screws
Traditional screws behave like wedges, dispersing energy laterally, which causes the holes in the deck to gradually become larger, eventually loosening the surfskate trucks or even cracking the deck itself.
2- OVNI screws
The French screws, on the other hand, disperse energy perpendicular to the wood grain, preserving both the holes in the deck and the deck itself, extending its useful life.
We always work with our own outlines and curves, also innovating in materials.
Outlines
We always aim for the highest performance and the greatest similarity to surfing in the sea. Our outlines are not just an aesthetic feature: each outline identifies the surf style the surfskate is inspired by, and with which it’s possible to surf outside the water.
Curves
The curves depend on the athlete’s goals, the type of wave, surf style, and skill level. We use traditional curves (concave-tail) for surfskates simulating the surf of a thruster, for surfing on steep walls (bowl). For high performance on the flat, we use concave shapes. For the closest feeling to real surfing, we have developed unique shapes that are convex and feature a rocker curve.
Materials
We use bamboo in our shapes, 100% natural, which doesn't splinter, rot, and is stronger and lighter than the woods typically used for making shapes.
It’s a more expensive material than wood, but the higher performance justifies the extra cost.
For us, design matters as much as performance. A quality piece of equipment needs to be both functional and beautiful.
Surfskates deserve to be as desirable and admirable as the most beautiful surfboards!
We have introduced various types of finishes that have never been used in the production of surfskates before, such as neon, metallic, pearlescent, chameleon, flare, marquetry, etc.
When it comes to outdoor sports, in addition to the aesthetic function of the finishes, it is also essential that the finish makes the deck waterproof, extending its lifespan.
We've gone beyond the traditional in everything, and the same applies to the decks and grips of our surfskates.
OVNI models, so similar to surfboards, required a way to prevent slipping during maneuvers without using those black grips found on every surfskate in the world, hiding the beauty of the equipment.
We found several innovative and creative solutions!
Wax
The best choice for the true surfer who wants to replicate the experience of surfing on a board, even when surfing off the water. Perfect for barefoot surfing, in any surf style, except for radical maneuvers in the bowl.
Silicone Drops
A great alternative to wax when you don't have the time or desire to prepare the deck before your session. Suitable for surfing any style, but not for radical maneuvers in the bowl.
Cork
Excellent for barefoot surfing as it is soft and absorbs sweat, allowing for hours of fun. It doesn't grip the feet too much, making it great for longboard, funboard, or even fishboard surfing.
Traditional Grip
Great general grip, but sometimes even too much when it comes to surfing, as it prevents quick base changes. It's best used for radical surfskating. Shoes are required.
OVNI with style, in the premium models – COSMIC and WOODS lines.
For the true surfer who doesn't want to experience surfing halfway, OVNI offers the full ritual.
The leash also helps prevent the equipment from getting run over or lost under a car when you lose control after a fall. It also serves as a convenient way to hang the skateboard at home.
And for those who prefer not to use the leash, there's a surfskate with that extra touch of style.
